The SSNUP: Supporting small-scale agricultural producers and strengthening agricultural value chains
THE SSNUP (Smallholder Sustainability Upscaling) is a program coordinated by ADA in Luxembourg and supported by the governments of Luxembourg, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Since its creation in 2020, it has supported the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation. To date, it is 16 of its partners which were able to be supported in 10 countries, with a contribution from 1.28 million euros.
An integrated approach to serving small producers
The SSNUP strengthens agricultural value chains by combining financial services, insurance solutions, and technical support. This holistic approach enables small-scale producers to access not only credit, but also the knowledge and tools needed to improve their productivity and resilience.
Concrete results on the ground
In Senegal, 1,501 rice farmers were trained in best practices across 18 demonstration plots. The result: a 16% increase in yield and a significant improvement in the quality of the rice produced. Discover the results in detail.
In Ivory Coast, Advans trained 932 cocoa farmers in financial management and input credit. The project implemented monitoring tools for 20 cooperatives, demonstrating that dual training for cooperatives and farmers strengthens agricultural credit portfolios. Discover the results in detail.
In Benin, RENACA trained 2,439 producers by combining financial education and sustainable agricultural practices. 85 reported an increase in production, 84 an increase in income, and 89 an improvement in their quality of life. Discover the results in detail.
Phase 2: Accelerating the impact
In May 2025, the launch of the second phase of the program emphasized two priorities championed by the Foundation: gender equality and adaptation to climate change. These cross-cutting issues are now integrated into all supported projects to ensure more inclusive and resilient agriculture in the face of climate challenges.
