Context :
When nearly one in two children in Bangladesh is malnourished, it's difficult for them to develop to their full physical and mental potential. Eating well helps you grow, have a good memory, and get the most out of what you learn at school, thus preparing a bright future for yourself and your country. That's why the Grameen Danone Foods team has developed a yogurt enriched with vitamins and minerals, Shokti +, whose symbol is the lion.
The company:
Created in 2007 at the initiative of the Danone Group and Grameen, inspired by the social business vision of Professor Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize winner, GDFL combines several innovations: industrial innovation, marketing innovation and social innovation since GDFL is a social business company that places its social mission at the heart of its economic model.
Impact :
Grameen Danone Foods Ltd. (GDFL) aims to contribute to better children's health by addressing their nutritional deficiencies with nutrients through highly fortified yogurts and other dairy products, sold at affordable prices to very poor families. GDFL also provides income for residents of surrounding villages: small farmers sell their milk to the company, and women with limited resources earn a living by selling yogurt to each household.
