With a strong agricultural potential, the agricultural sector remains the principal means of subsistence of the inhabitants. This sector represents 59% of the GDP and 2/3 of the country’s jobs.

The Institution:

It was in 2008 that the NGO LAPO Nigeria launched the IMF LAPO SL in Sierra Leone. True to the mission of the NGO, the MFI mainly grants microcredits to women in disadvantaged areas. Today, LAPO is one of the most important MFIs in the country with 80% coverage of the national territory.

LAPO SL’s flagship product is the group loan to women in disadvantaged areas. The institution is committed to opening up access to financial services for low-income families so that they can lift themselves out of poverty.
