Context:

The agricultural sector is still structuring in Myanmar (28% of the GDP and 70% of the active population) but the share of the service sector tends to increase. The rural population rose to 69.42% in 2018.

The institution:

VisionFund Myanmar (VFM) is a tier 2 microfinance institution established in 1998 by VisionFund International (VFI). The financial services it provides allow poor households to increase their income.

Impact:

Vision Fund enables communities to increase its economic activity, access drinking water, education and healthcare, and benefit from improvements in nutrition. The institution helps rural communities not served by traditional financial systems to access the services they need.
