Context:

Despite the progress made (investments in education and infrastructure, GDP increased by 7.2% in 2018) Rwanda remains a very poor country, where just under 40% of the population lives below the poverty line national.

The institution:

ASA Microfinance Rwanda PLC (ASA Rwanda) is a Tier 3 microfinance institution that was established in 2016 by ASA International. Its mission is to contribute to poverty reduction through economic empowerment by ensuring access to financial services to the underprivileged community of Rwanda.

Impact:

ASA Rwanda provides loans under the group and individual methodologies. They mainly finance women who represent over 95% of its clientele, and mainly operates in rural areas.
